2025 Kia Carens Clavis Gets These 17 Features Over Maruti Ertiga

From a heap of convenience and comfort features to additional safety tech, the Carens Clavis is more loaded and a more premium offering than the Ertiga

The 2025 Kia Carens Clavis has been recently revealed and is set to launch on May 23. With an upmarket design and updates to its feature suite, it positions itself as a premium alternative to other MPVs including one of the buyer’s favourites – the Maruti Ertiga. The Carens Clavis is expected to start from Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Ertiga is priced between Rs 8.97 lakh and Rs 13.26 lakh (ex-showroom). 

In this report, we take a look at all the features the Carens Clavis offers over the Ertiga.

LED Headlights

The 2025 Kia Carens Clavis is equipped with 3-pod LED headlights in its higher variants. On the other hand, the Maruti Ertiga has projector halogen headlights as standard for all its trims.

12.25-inch Touchscreen

The 2025 Kia Carens Clavis is equipped with a 12.25-inch touchscreen display for infotainment purposes. In comparison, the Maruti Ertiga offers a 7-inch display. That said, while the Ertiga gets wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, you would have to rely on a wired setup for the same in the Kia Carens Clavis.

It must be noted that the Clavis’ lower variants that get an 8-inch infotainment offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. 

12.25-inch Digital Driver's Display

While the Maruti Ertiga gets classy-looking analogue dials with a colour multi-information display (MID), the Kia Carens Clavis gets a 12.25-inch fully digital driver’s display. It offers multiple customisation options and packs all the crucial vehicle information to the driver.

8-speaker Bose Sound System

The Carens Clavis comes with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, which is two more than the Arkamys-tuned 6-speaker audio system of the Maruti Ertiga. 

Powered And Ventilated Seats

The Kia Carens Clavis gets a 4-way semi-power-adjustable seat for the driver's side as well as a ventilation function for both front passengers, both of which aren’t available with the Ertiga. That said, do note that even though the Clavis’ seat is powered, the height adjustment function still needs to be done manually.

Wireless Phone Charger

The wireless phone charger in the Kia Carens Clavis makes life easier by letting you charge your phone more conveniently without cluttered and tangled wires. This is something you do not get in the Ertiga.

64-colour Ambient Lighting

The ambient lighting in Kia Carens Clavis lets you choose from 64 colours to suit your mood. This gives the MPV’s cabin a more premium feel, especially at night. Unfortunately, there is no ambient lighting present in the Maruti Ertiga.

Panoramic Sunroof

A panoramic sunroof adds to the Carens Clavis’ upmarket appeal. It lets more light in the cabin and makes it feel more airy. The Ertiga doesn’t get a sunroof. Do note that the panoramic sunroof in the Clavis is exclusively available with the turbo-petrol engine. If you opt for the diesel, you’d have to contend with a smaller single-pane sunroof. 

Rear-window Sunshades

The Kia Carens Clavis gets sunshades for its rear doors right from its base-spec HTE variant. This saves rear occupants from the scorching sunlight, especially during summer drives. This doesn’t come factory-fitted in the Ertiga, however, you can have it as an accessory fitment.

Air Purifier

The Kia Carens Clavis gets a built-in air purifier over the Ertiga, helping keep the cabin air clean and fresh, especially useful in city traffic or polluted areas. It is available in the top two variants - HTX and HTX Plus.

Retractable Seatback Table

You also get retractable seatback tables for rear passengers in the Carens Clavis, hence making it easier to hold snacks, drinks, or even a tablet during long journeys. Like the air purifier, this too is available with the top two trims.

360-degree Camera

The Carens Clavis has a 360-degree camera system that gives you a surrounding view of the MPV. It is particularly useful while manoeuvring in tight spaces. In answer to this, the Ertiga gets a rearview camera only.

Dashcam

The Carens Clavis is interestingly the only MPV in its segment that offers a factory-installed dashcam. The dashcam with dual camera is available in its top-spec HTX Plus variant and it's particularly useful in recording your drives for safety purposes. You can add it to the Ertiga as an aftermarket accessory. 

Electronic Parking Brake

The Carens Clavis gets a sleek electronic switch for the handbrake unlike the manual handbrake lever found in Ertiga. It also comes with an auto-hold function, making it more convenient in stop-and-go traffic.

Front Parking Sensors

In addition to rear parking sensors, the Carens Clavis also offers front parking sensors. This ensures easier parking or manoeuvring in tight spaces. In contrast, the Maruti Ertiga gets rear sensors only.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

The Kia Carens Clavis get TPMS inbuilt which keeps the driver informed about tyre pressure in real-time and alerts you of underinflated tyres. This doesn’t come as built-in with the Ertiga, however, you can add it as an aftermarket accessory if required.

Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)

The Kia Carens Clavis gets a level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) with features like lane keep assist, forward collision warning, and adaptive cruise control. Notably, this safety feature is not available in the Ertiga or any other Clavis rivals, except for the more premium Toyota Innova Hycross.

Other Rivals

Other alternatives to the 2025 Kia Carens Clavis and Maruti Ertiga include the Maruti XL6 and Toyota Rumion, while Toyota Innova Hycross, Maruti Invicto and Toyota Innova Hycross are their more premium rivals.
