2017 Ford EcoSport Facelift Shows Its Face
When Ford India introduced the EcoSport in 2013, it was treading a paved path for success. Back then, its sole competitor was the Quanto (now known as the NuvoSport). However, over time, the competition grew and currently it faces heat from the Vitara Brezza. There are numerous sub-4m SUVs such as the Hyundai Carlino, the Tata Nexon, the Nissan Kicks (expected to be a sub-4m) and others heading its way. To tackle the increased opposition (globally too), Ford is comprehensively updating this Fiesta-based crossover. It is expected to go on sale next year. However, the automaker might reveal it at a motor show later this year.

New face
We believe that the 2017 EcoSport will adopt Ford’s global crossover design language, similar to the recently updated Ford Kuga (image below). The same is evident from the spied images.
Unlike the current sleek grille, the new EcoSport will boast a gaping grille flanked by subtly redesigned headlamps. Do pay heed to the new projectors, which are not present in the current model. The front and the rear bumpers continue with the faux silver skid plate. There are no visible changes to the side profile, except for a new set of alloys. The rear bumper has minute changes and the tail lamps now feature clear lens in the same layout.
New Cabin
The dashboard has been completely revamped. The current funky button-heavy layout has been replaced with a more upmarket and premium one. The new cabin design was initially leaked in China a few days ago. A large touchscreen display takes the centre stage now and will probably support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto (Ford's SYNC 3). The central AC vents sit below the infotainment unit above its controls. The car has also received a new steering wheel and a redesigned instrument cluster.
