2015 VW Vento Facelift to Launch on June 23; All-You-Want-To-Know-About

With this one, Vento will have two facelifts within a year and that’s surprising, because they should have done this earlier when they added the new 1.5-liter TDI with subtle changes back in September 2014!

Within 9 months, VW is ready with yet another facelift of the Vento. The 2015 Vento will be launched this month on 23rd. Nine months ago Vento got a brand new 1.5-liter TDI engine with 7-Speed DSG automatic which displaced same power compared to the 1.6-liter it replaced and got refreshed interiors and a new set of alloys. Let us see what is new in the 2015 VW Vento.

Whats’ new?

  • At the outset, it gets a new grille, bumper and carries the dual-barrel headlamps from the last update
  • The new three-slat chrome grille, apart from making it look more premium and mature, has put it in-line with the other sedan in the clan - 2015 Jetta facelift and the new Passat

  • Bumper gets a slightly larger air dam with a new chrome line that runs in the bottom throughout the bumper. And finally it gets the cornering lights in the fog lamps like in the 2014 Polo facelift
  • The side profile is kept unaltered except for few things, there are new set of alloys borrowed from the new Polo, new chrome highlights on the door handles, and finally it receives turn indicators on the outside rear view mirrors

  • VW has also made changes to the rear profile of the 2015 Vento but not as extravagant as the front one gets. The taillights get subtle updates in terms of new faux LED treatment (VW calls it 3D effect taillamps). A chrome line that runs in-between the taillights and in the bottom recess of the refreshed bumper around the reflectors

  • Unlike the previous version, the exhaust tip gets an outlet in the bumper with a chrome muffler tip
  • On the inside, the car carries the revamped dashboard that came with the last update but it gets a lighter shade of beige, VW calls it ‘Walnut desert beige’.

  • There is still no touchscreen infotainment system and it carries the same Bluetooth enabled unit from the last refresh
  • There’s a new cruise control feature, cooled glovebox, dead pedal (for the automatic trims) and the outside rearview mirrors are now power foldable.

Mechanically, it carries the same new 1.5-liter TDI diesel along with the 1.2-liter TSI 1.6-liter MPI. However, the diesel gets an efficiency bump, VW claims a 7.5 percent improvement over the existing Vento. They have slightly tuned the engine for efficiency, but mechanically it remains the same. So the driveability remains unaltered, and that’s not a bad thing either!

Speaking of the figures, the 1.5-liter motor pumps out 103.5 bhp @ 4400 rpm and 250 Nm of peak torque @ 1500-2500 rpm. This engine is mated to a 5-Speed MT and 7-speed DSG automatic.

Petrol - The 1.6 MPI churns out 103.5 bhp and 153 Nm of peak torque while the punchier 1.2 TSI turbo belts out 103.5bhp and 175Nm of torque. The 1.6 MPI gets 5-speed MT while the 1.2 TSI gets 7-speed DSG automatic.
