Volvo Introduces XC90 R-Design
Volvo has revealed a sportier looking version of their hot selling, second generation XC90 - XC90 R-Design. R-Design versions are available with the D5 diesel and T6 petrol Drive-E engines along with the range-topping T8 Twin Engine petrol-electric hybrid. Prices, in the UK, for the XC90 R-Design starts at £49,785 (nearly Rs 50 lacs). Rumor has it, that Volvo is expected to introduce Polestar version of the XC90, the Swedish automaker acquired the tuning house earlier this year.
Speaking with respect to India, Volvo has launched the second generation XC90 in May earlier this year with a price tag of Rs 64.9 Lacs. The vehicle is available solely with a diesel engine option, this is the same D5 engine that is also available with the R-Design version in the UK. According to the company, XC90 got off to an amazing start in the country. Currently, R-Design is only offered with the V40 hatch, but there’s a possibility that Volvo may offer XC90 R-Design in India. Moreover, Volvo India will also reportedly bring the Polestar brand in India next year.
Speaking of the additions we will be seeing in the XC90 R-Design, the exteriors are distinguished by 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, silver-effect door mirrors, gloss black mesh front grille and tinted rear windows. Inside, there are leather/nubuck sports seats, a 12.3-inch active TFT driver’s information display and a perforated leather-trimmed steering wheel complete with gearshift paddles. R-Design XC90s also get a powered front passenger seat with memory function, sports pedals, black headlining and upgraded interior lighting. There’s even an exclusive R-Design leather-clad remote key fob.
