Skoda Yeti 4X2 version in the works
Skoda Yeti is soon going to come in 4X2 version in the Indian car market. Skoda Yeti is a 4X4 version and holds a fat price tag starting from Rs 15.35 lakh-Rs 16.72 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new SUV will undercut this figure and fresh Skoda Yeti 4X2 price will be Rs 2 lakh less than 4X4. This is evidently a marketing strategy also adopted by Tata Motors for boosting the sales of Tata Aria. Even with its bold and beautiful looks, Skoda Yeti was not able to attract sales due to heavy burden of price which now seems to be waiving off.

Thomal Keuhl, a board member of Skoda Yeti shared this information and indicated the launch of the Yeti will happen in the next couple of months. Beginning the year on a high note, Skoda Yeti garnered handsome sales figures of 150 units a month but the September sales of the Yeti has been a paltry 50 units. This lead Skoda India to jump into fierce price competition which was already going on among SUVs in India. Skoda Yeti minus the 4X4 system will allow the Czech car maker to cut its price by a considerable chunk.

People who look for a soft roader and the ones who never really take their SUVs to places apart from India’s urban areas might get lured by the upcoming version at lower price and drive home their new Skoda Yeti 4X2. Skoda Yeti is already available in 4×2 guise for the European market and is powered by a 2 liter, 140 Bhp-320 Nm TDI diesel engine. It is extremely unsure if these specifications can make upto Indian version. Skoda’s new sedan Skoda Rapid is also round the corner which is made on the Volkswagen Vento’s platform.
