Hyundai Developing a New Hatchback to Rival Swift
India's second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai India that already has 4 hatchbacks in its Indian portfolio which includes Santro, Eon, i10 and i20, is now working on a new hatchback to be positioned between the i10 and the i20, which will rival Maruti Suzuki Swift, ET reports.

Codenamed as BA, the new hatchback will adorn the already successful fluidic design language, and will be powered by a 1.1-litre diesel and 1.2-litre petrol engine. Some in the industry believes that it will be the next generation i10, and some are calling it an all new product, but we expect it to be a a new product based on the i10 platform, which will fill the much needed gap between the i10 and the i20, while the existing i10 will still continue to sell in India.
Four people close to the development has also told the same, that the new hatchback won't replace the i10, which has been one of the top selling products for the company in India. The car which is being developed out of South Korea and over 100 Indian engineers too have visited the R&D centre to work on this project. The car is under testing at the moment in South Korean and is expected to hit the Indian shores ahead of the festive season this year.
However Hyundai India officials preferred to not comment on the project as of now, Rakesh Srivastava, VP- sales & marketing, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said, "As part of our corporate policy, we do not comment on speculation on future products."
