Ford might announce the launch of EcoSport SUV on 4th January
Looks like, Ford is planning really big this time to mark its breakthrough in compact SUVs. The company will make a global announcement before the Auto Expo commences on the 4th of January. Speculations are rife that the American auto giant may reveal its compact SUV EcoSprot. Here are a couple of facts we have for sure. Ford EcoSport will carry the first EcoBoost engine from Ford for its India line-up.It is the first SUV from the auto major to take the compact form. The Ford EcoSport SUV is built on the same platform of Ford Fiesta. Quite automatically, we may as well assume that the same tried and tested 90 Bhp 1.5 L diesel engine will make into the compact SUV.

As mentioned a 1.0 L or 1.2 L Ecoboost petrol engine will power the Ford Ecosport to generate some extraordinary power and torque numbers. Coming to the Ford Ecosport price, Ford India could most probably look at somewhere around Rs 7-9 lakhs placing it well between the Ford Fiesta and its upcoming automatic variant. Sub-four meter in length and Ford Fiesta platform are enough to understand that the compact SUV will inarguably be stringent in terms of interior space. All the same, the accommodation will be enough to carry five passengers comfortably. Based on the situation, Ford EcoSport has enough time for a take-off as its going to be a while before it sees a rival in the segment.

Renault Duster compact SUV followed by the Nissan’s version of the same is not expected until mid to late end of 2012. Basically, year 2012 will not only be just the beginning of the compact SUV trend in India, but will also get heated up within the same year. Maruti India too, on the other hand has a new concept SUV to be displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo probably slated for a year end launch as well. Coming back to where we began, it is interesting to see what the auto major has in store for the Ford EcoSport India launch. Could it be like the auto major hopes to make an announcement beforehand, guage the consumer response and then launch their reason of pride at the 2012 Auto Expo in front of the masses? looks nice, within the price of 10L it is excellent bargain for a compact SUV in India. it will be nice to office diff variants like 2.0L regards Thomas

Is it confirmed that its getting launched for the masses as well and can be seen on the roads in Jan-Feb. I might as well postpone my decision of buying the a sedan (TATA Manza). Please suggest!!

If You are fond of SUV and want good SUV in price of Tata Manza. Your decision is correct.Indian car market dont have much option in cheaper and compact SUV space. I think this car will be Very good and Ford has good service in India. I read this car will be less then 4 meter long so it will give benefit of duty(approx RS 50,000). Thanks

Thanks! But just wanted to know if u would have any idea abt the time period ie Jan-Feb?if its coming in later part of the year 2012 then I rather go for manza than wait for it. Also, will it be in diesel?
