Ford EcoSport now costs more

Ford India has increased the prices of its highest selling compact SUV Ford EcoSport from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 (depending upon the variant and dealership location). The hiked up prices are already in effect in the entire model lineup of EcoSport. Renault India have also announced the price hike on Scala, Pulse and Duster models effective from July 1.

With the price hike of 1 per cent, the automaker is trying to mend the gap of production cost and retail cost. Ford has only increased the price of its compact SUV EcoSport while all the prices of all the other car models will remain same. On an average, the manufacturer retails more than 4000 units of EcoSport a month.

It is unknown that other car manufacturer will follow the foot steps of Renault and Ford. Its more of a waiting game for other companies as recently after 15 months of poor sales, automakers have witnessed some growth in their sales chart. Honda including Nissan, Ford and Hyundai posted tremendous growth for the month of June. While India's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki sold more than 1 lakh units as it witnessed an increment of 33 per cent in sales. With the Union and Rail budgets coming in a week, most of the auto-makers are sceptical on the price hike and will play their price hike card in accordance to budget.

Ford recently launched its C segment saloon Ford Fiesta at Rs 7.69 lakh (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The updated model has front grille inspired from the Aston Martin while the interiors get the latest audio up-gradation as Microsoft Sync. Ford offers Fiesta with only a diesel motor having three variants - Ambiente, Trend and Titanium. The existing 1.5 liter TDCi turbo diesel engine is on duty under the hood and delivers amazing fuel efficiency of 25.01kmpl.
