Ford EcoSport Features and Specifications Revealed

American auto giant, Ford that has already launched the compact SUV Ford EcoSport in Brazilian and Argentina markets some time back, is now all geared up to roll out the vehicle in India as well, possibly in the first quarter of 2013. Recently Ford India revealed more information about the upcoming vehicle on its website, which indicates that the company has already started doing preparation for the same.

The recently launched Renault Duster is the closest competitor of the vehicle globally, so as in India, where the Duster has been doing superb in terms of sales. And we would all agree that the EcoSport has got all what it takes to be a strong contender in the growing compact SUV segment, but the pricing will be the major factor to decide its destiny in India.

The features and specifications revealed by the company on its Indian website include the 200mm ground clearance, which according to the company helps it become a true SUV and make sures that potholes, burst water pipes high gutter and speed breakers won't be a problem while driving this vehicle. Speaking on the same Vice President, Marketing, Ford India- Anurag Mehrotra says, "Ground Clearance is clearly one of the defining aspects of this product. It gives you the feel of a traditional SUV."

The other exciting features include 550mm water wading ability, which will help the vehicle drive well on drenched roads. 35 degree departure, 25 degree approach and 25 degree break over angles however doesn't make it a tough SUV, but a good crossover with decent specifications. The upcoming Ford EcoSport will be equally safe and comfortable having features like side curtain airbags along with the driver and front passenger airbags, push button start and keyless entry, Traction control, ABS, EBD, 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, Hill Launch Assist, 560-litre storage area with rear seats folded, under seat storage at the front, cooled glove box and various others.
