750PS Shelby Super Snake Is The Evil Mustang You Want!

Among news of the new Ford Mustang breaking cover, and a hybrid one due in 2020, Shelby turned 50 years old. Predictably, the boffins from Nevada aren't having high tea on a quaint afternoon and calling it a party. To celebrate a half-century full of ear-drum shattering V8s, they've let loose the Super Snake. Five hundred of them, to be precise.
Shelby has a history of wringing every ounce of power from Ford engines, and it is no different this time round. The 5.0-litre V8 motor has been tuned to produce 670PS of power, instead of 401PS. If you ask politely, they'd slap on a Whipple or Kenne Bell Supercharger too, taking the power output further north to a mind-boggling 750PS.
For the record, that's as much as the Lamborghini Aventador S makes! While it isn't as quick as the Lamborghini, it will keep up all day long. The 0-100kmph dash is dealt with in a smidge over 3.5 seconds, and it boasts a quarter-mile time of just 10.9 seconds. Pretty impressive, isn't it?
Other than the manic power, the Super Snake doesn't tinker the Mustang's recipe too much. Updates include a different grille, an angrier looking hood and a different set of bumpers. The tail panel now reads 'Shelby' instead of having the GT roundel; you get a 'Super Snake' badge on the front fender, and there's the trademark striping down the side below the doors too. On the inside, there's another round of Shelby badging, including a plaque on the dash that reads out the official serial number of the car.
We think the Super Snake fits right into our list of crazy modified Mustangs. The limited edition 50th Anniversary Edition makes it all the more desirable. It is hard to resist a slab of Americana finished in blue and white, isn't it?
