Dark editions of Tata cars have gained popularity in recent times, with the Harrier being the first such offering from the Indian carmaker

Tata Motors first launched the Dark Edition of the Harrier which proved to be quite popular. Recently, the carmaker updated it and also launched Dark Editions of the Altroz, Nexon, and Nexon EV. The premium for these vehicles ranges between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000.

A slew of launches like this might lead many to believe that all Tata cars could get a Dark Edition in the future. However, that is not the case. We spoke to Tata officials at the launch of the Tata Tiago NRG and they revealed that the Dark Edition paint scheme is reserved for premium Tata vehicles.

On being further quizzed, the company officials added that a Dark Edition is not being considered for the Tiago at the moment.

However, as the Dark Edition is reserved for premium vehicles, we are sure the Safari will get it in the future. As far as the timeline is concerned, we won’t be surprised if Tata brings it out in time for the SUV’s first anniversary.

The Dark Editions of Tata cars are predominantly painted black. Different cars get different shades of black and this treatment is meted out to their alloy wheels, grilles, and interior as well. You will also find ‘Dark’ inscriptions on the fenders of these cars.
