Volvo Reveals Next Gen XC90
Volvo, the Swedish luxury carmaker has officially revealed its premium XC90 SUV ahead of its public debut at the Paris Motor Show. This next generation XC90 will replace the 12 year old ongoing model. XC90 is the first model to be based on Volvo’s bespoke Scalable Premium Architecture (SPA) platform.
The SUV embraces unique features such as 9.5-inch tablet-like touch screen central console, satellite-navigation, seven seats, keyless entry, a tailgate that can be opened by waving your foot under the rear bumper and full connectivity to the internet. With such fabulous interior and exterior features, the SUV has an edge over its competitors Audi Q7, BMW X5 and Mercedes Benz GL Class.
The exterior profile features LED lights at the front as standard with ‘Thor’s Hammer’ T-shaped daytime running lights along with bold front grille and ‘iron mark’ badge. Talking about the interiors which were revealed way before, the SUV as mentioned above gets 9.5-inch tablet-like touch screen control which is divided into the four sections- navigation, media, phone and weather with the Apple’s new CarPlay system.
The company calls this tablet-like touchscreen-controlled infotainment system as Human Machine Interface which controls most of the car's function. For music lovers, the XC90 gets Bowers & Wilkins audio system while for the safety, XC90 gets curtain airbags for all the seven passengers, 360-degree camera, and the Park Assist Pilot.
XC90 will be made available in three trims Momentum, R-Design and Inscription – all of which will be available with the three different powertrains-two diesel engines and one petrol-electric hybrid. Top of the line T8 variant gets Twin Engine which is a plug-in electric hybrid car. It houses 2.0-litre supercharged and turbocharged petrol engine which churns a maximum power output of 395bhp and 640 Nm of torque.
