Volkswagen Vento Facelift Coming on 24th September; new 1.5 TDI with DSG AT
Volkswagen India will be launching Vento facelift on 24th of September. Vento is coming with a new 1.5 liter TDI turbo diesel engine mated to VW's 7-speed dual-shift DSG automatic gearbox. Skoda is also launching Rapid with the same engine and transmission on 30th September; both the cars are ditching the outgoing 1.6 TDI. This engine was brought to India in the new Polo but is slightly toned down though the Polo GT TDI will be getting the similar version of the engine.
Vento facelift will adorn similar changes that were seen on the updated Polo recently. Starting with the new dual-bezel headlamps, updated grille alongwith a tweaked bumper, also expect the new cornering fog lamps that were seen on the Polo refresh. On the inside, 2014 Vento facelift will feature the new flat bottom multi-function steering wheel and updated center console. Expect addition of new colors in this Vento refresh.
Speaking about the new engine, Vento will receive the more powerful version of the new motor that will also come in Polo GT TDI. The 1.5 liter TDI turbo diesel in Vento will produce 103.5bhp (105PS) of max power and 250Nm of peak torque. This engine will be mated to a five speed manual along with an optional dual-shift 7-speed DSG. Apart from this new 1.5 TDI motor, petrol trims will retain the current naturally aspirated 1.6 MPI that churns out 103.5bhp and 153Nm of max torque mated to 5-speed. While the powerful 1.2 TSI belts out 103.5bhp and 175Nm of peak torque is mated to same 7-speed DSG AT. This makes Vento one of the best automatic sedans in the country featuring potent diesel and petrol ATs.
