Volkswagen Taigun Facelift TEASED Ahead Of Its April 9 Unveiling

Volkswagen India has teased their upcoming Taigun facelift with a silhouette of the SUV. While the teaser intends not to give away much, we deciphered some key design details from it. The Taigun facelift will debut on April 9. So, if you also want to learn what else could be expected out of the new Taigun, here’s everything detailed below:

What’s Show In The Teaser?

We have already seen test mules of the Taigun facelift before. On scrutinising the teaser image closely, we did pick out some information about the Taigun facelift’s design makeover. From the silhouette its evident once again that the rather upright outgoing Taigun has turned more sleek over the front now. It shall have new lighting elements with a connected light bar.  

On the side, the teaser hints at a sportier design, featuring Tayron R-Line-inspired bumpers and headlamps, along with newly designed alloy wheels that resemble the stylish rim pattern of its sedan sibling Virtus. Besides, it retains the tall roof rails and pull-type door handles.

The rear isn’t seen in the teaser like the front, but it is likely to get updated detailing within the connected LED tail lamps, as well as subtle revisions to the bumper design. Besides, expect new colourways in its palette.

The interior of the Taigun Facelift has not been shown in the teaser yet. Nor could we see it in any of the test mules till now. So, going by speculations and expectations, the interior is expected to carry forward a clean, minimalist design of the current model, possibly enhanced with a more premium dual-tone theme. 

Expected Features & Safety

The Taigun facelift is expected to get a handful of feature updates, following suit with the Kushaq facelift, which is based on the same underpinnings. New features could include a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an updated 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with an AI assistant, a panoramic sunroof, and a rear seat massage function. Other than this, it will carry forward its existing feature set, like a wireless phone charger, auto AC, ambient lighting, powered and ventilated front seats, a six-speaker audio system, and cruise control.

Safety-wise, the Taigun is expected to standardise more features like the new Kushaq, such as 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. It is also expected to include a rear-view camera, all-wheel disc brakes and front and rear parking sensors. One would really appreciate it if Volkswagen walked a step further to include an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), but the possibilities remain low.

Expected Powertrain

The new Taigun will continue with the same engine options. It could most likely bring a new 8-speed automatic gearbox replacing its 6-speed unit, just like the Kushaq.

Expected Price & Rivals

The new Volkswagen Taigun Facelift could start from around a similar price as the new Kushaq, which retails from Rs 10.60 lakh (ex-showroom). As rivals, it will stand against the Skoda Kushaq Facelift, new Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Toyota Hyryder, Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris, MG Astor, and Honda Elevate.
