Volkswagen Eyes Number One Position With Its Unparalleled Product Strategy

Earlier claims from the German automaker Volkswagen reveal that the company wishes to emerge as the largest car-maker by 2018. Looking at the company’s present situation of under-performance, the claim seem to be bit precarious. But the grapevines developed suggest that the Volkswagen has set a new target in this regard, the company now wishes to climb to the top-most position by the year 2016 instead of 2018. This target seems implausible but the history of the German giant is not a secret to anyone and it says that the company does posses potential to reach such great heights. This German player knows what is required to reach the zenith of success and one of the key areas that VW strikes on is the emotional values like driving pleasure, appealing design, strong perceived quality and engineering excellence; these values link the car and the owner.

Moreover, Volkswagen will be basing all its future models on any one of the three modular structures which are MQB, MLB and MSB. The Volkswagen MQB platform supports both the front and all wheel drive architecture on transverse engine layout. This MQB platform is a sharable platform that will help in cost cutting; the models being underpinned with this structure include the MKVII Volkswagen Golf, Jetta, 2014 Passat, Scirocco coupe, Audi A3, 2nd generation Tiguan, third generation Audi TT, and next generation Polo Subcompact. On the other hand, the MLB platform also supports both front and four wheel drive architecture but it does that on the longitudinal engine layout. The models like the Volkswagen Phaeton, the 3rd generation Touareg, 2014 Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A8, Audi Q5, Audi Q7 and Audi Q2 which is due in 2013, will all be underpinned with the MLB platform. The MSB platform supports the rear and all wheel drive on the front/mid/rear engine architecture and will principally support the Porsche model from beneath.
