Toyota India to Start Engine Production at Bangalore Facility

Japanese automobile giant, Toyota has announced that they will start the engine production from its Banglore based facility from next month. They are aiming to manufacture around a lakh engines and 2.4 lakh transmission from there. Speaking about the same Deputy MD for Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Shekar Viswanathan said "It will commence next month" The company made an announcement last year that Toyota would construct an engine plant and extend its transmission unit so that they might be used for the Etios duo, with an investment of Rs 500 crore

Speaking about the company's exports, he further said that 1500 units of Etios and Liva had been shipped to South Afria already."We have commenced exports to South Africa from Ennore Port (near Chennai)", While attending the National Conference on Chennai and Banglore Industrial Corridor (CBIC) organized by ASSOCHAM and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Madras, he spoke about the potential that India has of exporting the small cars to other global markets, "India is becoming the base for export of small cars and that is something we must foster. What I would like to emphasise is this plan needs to be enmeshed with the various corridors that are being proposed. We do need excellent Port access for our exports
