The Punch EV was the official car of the Tata WPL (Women’s Premier League) 2024 and was on display near the field during matches

Ellyse Perry Getting Broken Window Glass Of Punch EV

The Tata WPL (Women’s Premier League) 2024 concluded with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) emerging as the tournament winner. While the team put on an impressive performance to take the trophy, there was a particular RCB player’s moment earlier in the month that went somewhat viral online - the six that smashed the window of the Tata Punch EV. The Aussie sports person has now received a gift that captures that moment forever.

How Did It Happen?

As the official car for this season of the WPL, the Punch EV was displayed at every match. During one particular game played between the RCB and UP Warriorz at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru, the rear window glass of the Punch EV was shattered by a six hit by RCB batsman Ellyse Perry.

The video of Ellyse striking the ball high and towards the stands  which struck the rear door window of the Punch EV, went viral. Shortly before the WPL 2024 final, Ellyse received a special gift from Tata, and guess what, it was the broken glass from the Punch EV, fitted into a frame. Tata also praised Ellyse for her “glass-breaking” performance in the match and shared a picture through Punch EV’s official handle, showing the moment of gifting the framed bits of broken glass to Ellyse Perry.

Given Tata's prior announcement that it would donate Rs 5 lakh to a charitable cause each time a player hits the display car, the company has fulfilled its commitment by announcing a contribution of the same amount towards the installation of solar panels at Tata Memorial Hospital in Kolkata. Given that no other player was able to hit the car since, it just makes Ellyse’s accidental strike that much more memorable.
