Czech automaker Skoda has released the first set of official images of its upcoming SUV, the Karoq, ahead of its world premiere on May 18 in Stockholm, Sweden. The Skoda Yeti replacement will go on sale internationally in the second half of 2017. Its Indian debut is expected to happen in 2018. A couple of weeks earlier, Skoda revealed the all-new SUV’s name and a few camouflaged images similar to what it did before the Kodiaq’s reveal last year.

The camouflaged images of the Karoq gave us an impression that it's a mini Kodiaq. However, it is surprising distinguishable both on the inside as well as on the outside. While there are similarities between the two, they also have noticeable differences as well.

The Karoq borrows the split-headlamp design from the Kodiaq, but the former gets a rectangular design, while the latter features a relatively sleek layout.  Like the Kodiaq, the Karoq also features split-wraparound tail lamps, but only the LED light guides extend into the tailgate. Similar to the current Skodas, including the Kodiaq, the Karoq also features C-shaped tail lamps. All in all, the Yeti’s quirkiness is gone, which might come as a relief for many.

Skoda also revealed a picture of the central console of the Karoq’s dashboard. Though the layout is somewhat in line with the one in the Kodiaq, it get’s Skoda’s all-glass infotainment system as seen on the Octavia facelift. The vertically placed AC vents in the Karoq are sleeker and shorter compared to the Kodiaq's.

It also gets an all-digital instrument cluster, which is probably the first for any Skoda. This instrument cluster is very similar to the ones found on its cousins under the VW umbrella. Further, a LED ambient lighting strip runs on the upper edge of the four door trims and continue around the dashboard as well. It offers 10 different colour options. Stay tuned to CarDekho for the Karoq’s reveal next week.
