The launch of the Skoda Rapid sedan is nearing with each passing second. The Skoda Rapid launch is just a day away, but the consumers are quite abreast with all the essential details. Being the rebadged version of Volkswagen Vento, with minor changes making their way into the sedan, the Skoda Rapid price is the only factor, the consumers have not arrived to yet. However, the speculations are rife that the Skoda Rapid price for the base variant petrol will begin at Rs 6.7 lakhs and Rs 7.7 lakhs for its diesel variant.

The Czech auto major has proved once again that the Skoda Rapid is literally the replacement of Volkswagen badging branded with Skoda trademark. However, with the recent trend of cross-platform sharing, the variation in the style factor and slight compromise in maintaining the thorough quality of the parent car cannot be ruled out. The Skoda Rapid sharing more or less all the key features from Volkswagen Vento, will be placed a step lower than the latter, both in terms of pricing and brand value. Skoda Rapid will be offered in three attractive variants beginning with the base variant Active, Ambition and Elegance with petrol and diesel engines each. An additional variant is one advantage over Volkswagen Vento, which is only offered in two variants Trendline and Highline, giving an ample opportunity to choose from the range of variants.

As with any toned down rebadging, a couple of features have been discarded in the Skoda Rapid sedan. The steering mounted audio controls is for one apart from the two new features included in Volkswagen Vento of late to retain its sales volume. A new music system with USB port with the addition of 4 speakers, steering mounted audio controls and parking sensors are the new additions in Volkswagen Vento highline diesel made by the auto major fearing the growing competition in the form of Skoda Rapid. However, the engine specifications are going to be common with the same 1.6 L diesel and petrol engine accompanied with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and a 5-speed manual gearbox. The petrol engine keeps the capacity to churn out 105 Bhp peak power and 160 Nm peak torque, while the diesel engine is capable of generating the same peak power of 105 Bhp and peak torque of 253 Nm.
