Nissan Micra bookings crosses 1500 unit mark
Nissan Micra, the new generation premium hatchback which is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market on July 14th, has managed to clock more than 1500 pre-order bookings in just six weeks since the company has started receiving bookings for this car in the Indian market. Crossing the sales mark of 1500 units can be considered a remarkable feat for the company as the Micra is competing against some of the most popular cars in India of this segment like Maruti Swift, Hyundai i20, Ford Figo, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. The company has recently signed popular Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor as its brand-ambassador in India.

The Micra model is already available for display at Nissan's showrooms across India where interested buyers can book the car with an initial amount of Rs 50,000. It will be launched in four variants ( XE, XE+, XL and XV) in the expected price range of Rs 3,90,000 to 5,20,000 (New-Delhi ex-showroom price).
According to Mr Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD & CEO, Nissan Motor India, the company is delighted with this encouraging initial response. With the launch of the new Nissan Micra in India, Nissan will begin an exciting journey in India aiming to provide Indian customers with a full range of products and services. The company is confident that this booking trend will continue to improve as it moves closer to the start of sales by middle of July 2010.
With the launch of Micra in the Indian market, the Japanese Auto giant will mark its debut in compact-car segment which accounts for more than 70% of total annual car sales in the country. As the competition is very tough in this segment, the company has decorated Micra with some unique exterior and interior features. It is expected that the fully loaded version of Micra will be equipped with a basket full of features including auto AC (climate control), ABS, fog lamps and security alarm, push button ignition and front passenger side airbag.
