Next-Generation Renault Duster to Come in 2018

Renault will launch the second generation Duster in the country by 2018, a report in Economic Times stated that. Duster strated the compact SUV craze in the country but faced tough competition from EcoSport (since 2013) and recently from the Hyundai Creta. But apart from second generation Duster, the French automaker is planning to launch a major overhauled version of the compact SUV with both aesthetic and mechanical changes. The facelifted version is expected to be launched/showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo.

Renault Duster

Update: Renault Duster has been finally revealed at the Auto Expo 2016 in front of the large media gathering. The compact SUV needed an update for quite a long time and this was the only grand platform to show the potential of the car. The new Renault Duster will be challenging the popular Hyundai Creta in the segment besides gaining the lost market share that was stolen by Ford EcoSport. The second generation Duster will be rolled out in India in 2018 and could spawn 5+2 seating option

There’s not much info on the second generation Duster, but rumours have it, Renault will introduce the second generation Duster as a 5+2 seater. It will have a brand new design but we think that it will not leave the essence of Duster (like the second generation Swift, the current Swift, still has the essence of the original car). Apart from it, it will carry forward things like the AWD (all-wheel-drive) option. Renault might continue with the 1.5-liter diesel motor with an uprate. While it is expected that the second-gen Duster will be offered with a turbocharged petrol engine.

Speaking of the upcoming facelift, Duster will incorporate AMT automatic gearbox with the 110PS version; Renault/Dacia’s AMT gearbox was showcased at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show last month. Apart from it, 2016 Duster facelift in India will reflect the changes done to the international model.
