New Premier Rio Diesel BSIV Launched at Rs 6.7 lakh
Clearing all the speculations, Premier has softly launched its much awaited compact SUV Premier Rio’s diesel version at an exciting price of Rs 6.7 lakh and Deliveries will start from August 2. The Premier Rio 1.3 Multijet has been in the news ever since it was showcased at Delhi Auto Expo held in January.
However the Rio’s Diesel version was already available in India, but for tier 2 and tier 2 cities because of being only BSIII emission norms compliant. Therefore, the company started working on its BSIV compliant version, so to launch it in big cities of India.
The all new Premier Rio derives its power from Fiat sourced 1.3 multijet diesel engine which currently powers Swift, Punto and Vista as well, but with Rio it gives better output. It churns out the maimum of 72bhp at 4000rpm and 183Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed manual transmission and returns the impressive fuel efficiency of 19kmpl.
Called as the Premier Rio CRDi4, it has been made available in four colors including black red, white and silver. And having the least price in the segment, we expect it to compete so closely against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Renault Duster.
Having the Sub-4 meter dimensions that include 3970mm length, 1570mm width, 1730mm height and 200mm of ground clearance, it gets the advantage on excise duty. The other important features include ABS, beige interiors, rear wiper and defogger, boot mounted spare wheel, power windows and a few others. The one thing that we believe Premier should have offered is the airbags, to make it better in terms of safety.
