Mitsubishi recently revealed its big plans and aspiring goals for the year 2010. There has been a mind-set that Mitsubishi has never really taken the Indian markets seriously, but one of the main reasons for Mitsubishi's limited growth in India has been a passive support in terms of marketing by its partner, Hindustan Motors.

The Indian Automotive market is set to witness a flurry of changes introduced by various car majors. Mitsubishi to mention, has decided to phase out its senior model Lancer and Pajero from the BS-IV complaint cities. Along with the two known models phasing out, there are revealed plans of Pajero Sport and Outlander being upgraded.

Mitsubishi Outlander would be enhanced with better features, new stylish looks, an attractive low price-tag and would also be launched in the Diesel variant. The diesel variant would be powered by a 2.0 L engine and would come equipped with 6 speed auto transmission. These changes would be there for look and feel by April end 2010.

Along with Outlander, the company is also placing its hope on the all new Pajero. Expected to be locally assembled, the SUV would be powered by a 3.2litre diesel engine with a power output of 165 BHP & 351NM of torque. With all the mentioned features on roll, the car is definitely going to be a competition for its rival Fortuner. It is speculated that the SUV would be launched by mid-June 2010.

EVO X, another eyed car by the company is expected to hit Indian shores by the June 2010. The car would be powered with a 2.0 supercharged petrol engine and expected to be priced around 35 lakhs.

As all major Automobile majors are taking leaps to cater to the ever-growing and most-demanded Small car segment, Mitsubishi seems to give no air to the same. However, with strong Brand value, great plans in hand we wish the OEM good luck, to be able to, tame its share in the Indian market this year.

Took the test drive of Mitsubishi Outlander today. No doubt it is a fantastic vehicle with great features but the two limitations are holding me back from acquiring this vehicle: i) It is Petrol powered ii) The average (mileage) is less (about 8 Kmpl) I would like to Know if there is any plan of Mitsubishi to launch its Diesel Variant in India and if yes, by when? Can anyone please help me with this information Regards Navin
