Maruti SX4 unveiled in Guangzhou Motor Show
In the ongoing Guangzhou Motor Show Suzuki Motors, the Japanese auto giant exhibited the new version of its saloon Maruti SX4 for the first time. The sedan has been revamped in its looks greatly. Though Suzuki did not mention any changes in the engine but definitely the new look gives it a more jazzy feel. The glimpse of the new Maruti SX4 will leave the car admires spellbound.

The cosmetic changes Maruti SX4 has went through are new headlamps along with dark background, an all new front and rear bumpers and also new fog lights. In the front, the chrome has been rightly placed on the new grille which gives it more of a sporty looks. The sedan will be coming with smart key option and also built in music player with SD-card option is available. Volkswagen has invested in Suzuki which has assured the car buyers of the cars engine and specs. As per the speculations, the new sedan is a diesel version which will be launched in the beginning of the next year.

Back home, if looking at Suzuki's Indian arm, Maruti, it has started feeling the heat despite doing well in the Indian auto market especially in the last two months in which it sold more than 1 lakh cars and has captured a major share in the auto industry. Maruti has its dominance in the small car segment but with various car makers entering with new technology in the small car segment, Maruti is facing tough competition. Maruti has winning products and enjoys its dominance with cars such as Maruti Alto, Maruti Ritz, Maruti Swift, Maruti A-Star, Maruti Wagon R and Maruti Zen Estilo. The new competition in the auto sector is with the hatchbacks such as Chevrolet Beat, Ford Figo and Volkswagen Polo that have gained their respective places in the Indian auto market. If looking at the sales graph, Maruti's sales dropped to 49 per cent in April-November, 2010 when compared to 51.3 per cent in April-November, 2009. If the auto Industry sources are to be believed, it is expected to further slide sown as Toyota will be entering with Toyota Etios Liva in April, 2011 and Honda will soon launch Honda Brio that will challenge against the Maruti's existence dominance.

It will be interesting to see the Indian auto market in the coming year as it is a time for the new hatchbacks. It will be a challenge for the current market leaders to maintain their position.
