Maruti Models to have Volkswagen tag

An exclusive report from Indian auto industry says something quite unique and surprising about the  future models of Maruti Suzuki in India. According to this report, India will be the first country in the entire world to have Suzuki models with the presence of Volkswagen’s brand upon them. This will be the result of the fact that earlier in the beginning of the year 2010, auto major Volkswagen has acquired 20 % stake in Suzuki Motor Corporation. Now the renowned carmaker Volkswagen is planning to capitalise on success of Maruti in India.

Both Suzuki Motor Corporation and Volkswagen are regularly communicating with each other to work out on the great results that they may achieve through their strong and dedicated efforts. The auto market of India provides numerous opportunities for the German carmaker Volkswagen, especially in the small car segment. This segment is seriously short of any strong auto player. It will really be beneficial for Volkswagen to make its entry into this segment as this segment contributes to about two-third of the total sales volume in India.

As per the industry sources, the alliance with Suzuki coincides with the decision of Volkswagen to axe the Up! mini-car for Indian market but that would leave Volkswagen with no presence in the core segment of the market of India below the Volkswagen Polo. As a result of the present developments, Indian customers may witness Skoda, Wagon R and Volkswagen-badged A-Star soon  in the market.
