Maruti Kizashi, the small car tag breaker
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) is ready to come out of its cocoon of small car and explore the world of luxury and to invade the new world, company is coming up with a sword name Maruti Kizashi. The launch of its first saloon, Maruti Kizashi is scheduled in the end of this month. The model was unveiled officially in Udaipur last week. MSIL has a good hold on the small car segment in India and a good evidence is its Maruti Alto which was honoured with the title of best selling small car globally in 2010.

The launch of its first saloon, Maruti Kizashi is scheduled for the second of the next month. The model was unveiled officially in Udaipur last week.
MSIL has a good hold on the small car segment in India and a good evidence is its Maruti Alto which was honoured with the title of best selling small car globally in 2010. But the company has decided to shed its title of small car maker by playing in the new luxury field. The company has experienced other segments by launching cars like Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti SX4 and Maruti Baleno but none of them could attract a good demand in market which left a question on company's potential to come out of its cliched small car segment.

The upcoming luxury dip Maruti Kizashi will be powered by a 2.4 litre, four-cylinder petrol engine mated with both manual and automatic transmission. The price of this model is still not revealed by the company but is said to be placed above the likes of Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic but below Toyota Camry and Honda Accord that means it will lie between Rs 12.21 lakh and Rs 26.17 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This is the segment which has shown a growth of 53 per cent in this fiscal year.

The major competitors in market that stand against Maruti Kizashi will be Honda Accord and Toyota Camry but the car is claimed to enjoy a better fuel efficiency than other segment mates. Addressing the issue, Mayank Pareek, managing executive officer (marketing and sales), MSIL commented that upcoming model Maruti Kizashi will complete the company's portfolio and will give a great choice to the consumers to pick a saloon from their stable. He said that a number of features offered in this low price tag are going to draw the consumers towards the car.
