Mahindra M12Electro is ready for Formula E Season 12. It’s time to #ScreamElectric!

Mahindra has been sprinting towards its electric destiny well before the majority of carmakers ever talked about EVs. As one of the few teams that have participated in every season of Formula E, Mahindra has over a decade of know-how on getting EVs to perform at their maximum potential in the toughest street circuits around the globe. As we move into season 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship we take a look at Mahindra Racing’s journey through the years and their ambitions and preparations for the new season.
Mahindra in Formula E: From Founders to Front-Runners

Mahindra Racing entered Formula E in its inaugural season (2014–15). The early seasons were about experimentation, learning how to use electric power on narrow street courses while trying to save energy. The turning point arrived in the seasons of 2016–17 and 2017–18. With Felix Rosenqvist and Nick Heidfeld as drivers, Mahindra claimed its first Formula E victory, several podiums, and even led the drivers' championship for a brief period.
For an Indian automaker, outpacing global EV titans on an international motorsport podium was more than symbolic; it demonstrated Mahindra's ability to innovate where it counted the most: on the leading edge of electric technology.
From Track to Tarmac: Formula E's Real-World Benefits

Technology transfer from motorsport to road-going cars is not a marketing slogan; it's a procedure. Terabytes of telemetry are processed every time they come back from a race: battery temperature peaks, power delivery trends, inverter load, regen characteristics, tyre grip, and even millisecond micro-adjustments. This is used by the engineers to rewrite control software, fine-tune energy maps, and optimise cooling strategies.
The same logic that allows a Formula E driver to wring out performance from a battery pack now is assisting a road-car driver to obtain smoother acceleration, improved cooling in hot weather, and more efficient regenerative braking in stop-and-go conditions. That's the true trickle-down, intelligence, not hardware.
Season 12: Aiming Higher, More Podiums, More Wins

As Mahindra Racing heads into Formula E Season 12, it relies on its past learnings, a strong drivers lineup and a new car. The team retained Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara in the cockpit, with India’s own Kush Maini returning as reserve driver.
Their new challenger, the M12Electro sports a new livery in metallic red, gloss white and carbon black accented by 12 stripes symbolising the 12 years Mahindra has competed in Formula E. The new car is lighter, faster and more efficient than ever before. With a top speed of 320kmph, a 470BHP power figure and weighing in at just 840kgs, it's ready to fly off the start line in December.
The season kicks off in Sao Paulo, Brazil on the 6th of December with a total of 17 rounds that will run up to August 2026. Join us in cheering for the team and the drivers as they chase racing glory once again! Are you ready to #ScreamElectric?
