Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of the Indian auto giant, Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch its first four-seater electric vehicle, the E2O by the end of November 2012. Earlier known as Reva NXR now has been officially christened as "E2O" as per the company's trend of ending its vehicle's name with alphabet "o", e.g. Scorpio, Quanto, Verito and others.

The Electric car E2O is the first product that has been assembled at the company's newly started eco-friendly facility based out of Bangalore. The vehicle derives it power from a 48-Volt, 29kW electric motor that belts out a maximum of 39.4bhp, promising to return an impressive fuel economy. There might an other costlier variant as well to be powered by a lead-acid battery, however the company hasn't commented anything on the same.

Expected to be priced around Rs 6 lakh, the Reva E2O (48-volt, electric motor version) is coming at a time when the country is actually in need of cars, that are run by alternative and cheaper fuel options. The company that already has Reva i in its portfolio, is expecting to change the people's mindset with its first four-seater car, which has more space, power and better looks than its sibling.

Although, there is no competitor as such for Reva E2O, the upcoming Nissan leaf could emerge a sa potential threat, which is again an electric concept.

Stay tuned for more udpates on the same. Cheers!
