Kia Announces Service Action Campaign For Diesel Variants Of The Seltos. Is Yours Affected?

All the diesel-powered variants of the Seltos manufactured between October 1, 2019, and March 13, 2020, are included under the service action

Kia has announced a service action campaign for the diesel variants of the Seltos over a possible issue with the fuel pump of the 1.5-litre diesel engine. This includes all the diesel variants of the Seltos manufactured between October 1, 2019, and March 13, 2020.

The campaign has been undertaken due to the possible risk of a small hole developing at the bottom of the fuel pump or a crack in its assembly. It could cause issues such as car vibration, reduced pickup, and/or a problem while starting the vehicle. The 1.5-litre diesel unit is offered with the choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. It seems the problem could affect both options of the diesel variants as neither one has been specified for the campaign.

Kia dealers are likely to contact the owners of the affected vehicles to bring their cars to the dealership/service centre for an inspection. The carmaker will replace the faulty part (if found) free of cost. Kia has also given out a statement: "At Kia Motors, we follow a regular practice of upgrading products. Based on the feedback received from customers and various sources, necessary improvements are made with customers in mind. For vehicles already on road, a communication / guideline is released to the dealers with details of the inspection process and repairs to be carried out. The recent communication involves inspection of the fuel pump. In case of any observation, the dealer is required to carry out repair / replacement as the case may be. No recall has been announced. It is basically a Service Action Campaign to ensure our customers do not face any inconvenience."
