Jaguar to come at lower price by 2015
Riding on the back of growing auto industry, the luxury car makers are working hard to grab the biggest share of pie. At the same time, Britain major Jaguar is planning big to slip in the profitable compact executive segment by the year 2015. The intentions were revealed by Adrian Hallmark, the global brand director of Jaguar.
Hallmark also commented that at an initial stage Jaguar will come up with a compact sports car which will majorly work for the company' image which will be then followed by a saloon which will aim for better volumes. He also stated that the company is aiming to come up with smaller car models at lesser price levels. He also pointed out that the new models will come in competition of BMW 3-series and Audi A4. The company's intention is to bring elite car models loaded with high technology which will act as the segment major players in coming times.
As per his statements, the company has triggered the process of developing this line of car models which indicates the appearance of the first model from this segment in mid-2015. The industry experts says that the car will come in rear-wheel drive technology loaded with same running gear and suspension systems standing on a new platform.
Now the debatable topic is to what will be the platform for these lower priced car models as the affordability is questionable at this point of time. But for now keeping this price segment in mind, one can expect the platform to be a mixture of steel and aluminium, where the structure might be refined as in Jaguar XJ.
On questioning about the company's failure in case of launch of the Jaguar X-Type which was basically based on front wheel drive Ford Mondeo, he said that company will not repeat the same mistake and no compromises will be made on the engine capacity and wheel size for the sake of some 25 per cent discount.
