Jaguar Land Rover introduces armoured vehicles at Rs 4.75 crore

Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover has introduced a brand new armoured range of its Range Rover as well as of the Discovery sports utility vehicles which will have indicative prices as Rs 4.75 crore and Rs 3.75 crore respectively. The company is also mulling over the plan of introducing the armoured version for its product - Jaguar XJ sedan. If it happens so, the armoured version for this product will be available with the price tag of Rs 5.5 crore. Tata Motors Head, Premier Car Division Rohit Suri stated that the market of the armoured vehicles is a very focused segment and they do not intend to leave it.

Rohit Suri further added that the company is introducing those products in India because it has got the whole range of offering here. The market of armoured vehicles, globally, is expected to be about 15,000 units yearly annually but it is at a very emerging stage in India. He also stated that they have just begun exploring and analyzing the market and they now understand that the market has certain capability but it will also be too early to provide a no. on how many armoured products the company plans to sell in India. Suri also commented that considering the levels of customisation, the cost of the products may differ. But on the other hand, the Discovery sports utility vehicles and Range Rover will come with the indicative price of Rs 4.75 crore and Rs 3.75 crore respectively.

This is quite different to the cost of the general Range Rover which comes with the price tag of Rs 1.06 crore. Also the Discovery is available at Rs 63 lakh. Suri also commented that Jaguar land Rover and Tata Motors are presently acting on arranging certain products from Land Rover in India for meeting the Indian demands. However, Suri denied to provide any details further saying that the work is still in progress presently. Regarding the overall sales of Jaguar land Rover, Suri commented that the company sold 242 units last fiscal and at the present year, it is doing much better.
