Honda to Recall City, Jazz and Civic models to fix Faulty Airbags

The Indian wing of Japanese automaker Honda has announced to recall 57,676 units of Jazz hatchback, City and Civic sedans. The company is recalling the vehicles to fix the faulty airbags, as part of its global recall campaign. The cars that were produced in between the period of January 2012 and June 2013, will fall under this call back.

The company said that it will voluntarily replace the driver side airbag inflators by contacting the customers directly. The replacement will be done free of cost and in a phased manner across the dealerships pan India, starting from February 2012.

Talking about the respective models, 49,572 units of City sedan falls under this recall, manufactured between January 2016 and June 2013, while 7,504 units of Jazz hatchback that were produced between February 2012 to February 2013, will fall under the purview. The firm also said that 600 units of Civic sedan are also covered, carrying the manufacturing date between January 2012 and August 2012.

As per the previous recalls, the Japanese automaker in 2015 seem to be on a recall spree in India. In May, the carmaker announced to recall 575 units of Honda CR-V and 10,805 units of Accord for the same airbag inflator problem. In September, Honda Cars India Limited recalled about 2.24 lac units of the City, Jazz, Civic and CR-V, produced between 2003 and 2012, citing the same faulty airbag issue. The move was then considered as the biggest in the country ever. Further, in December 2015, company recalled 90,210 units of City sedan and Mobilio MPV for fixing faulty fuel return pipe issue.
