GM to launch Chevrolet EV and Chevrolet Beat Diesel in June
As reported earlier, the German automaker GM India was planning to launch its Chevrolet Beat EV model in India in the first quarter of 2011. Details regarding Chevrolet EV were also discussed and how this car was going to be a good replacement of Chevrolet Spark EV project was also talked about. Also the Managing Director of General Motors India Karl Slym earlier left hint that company was keen on expansion and development.

But as per report, he did not tell anything about the development segment and the name of the car on which company was working. But reports by relevant sources suggested that General Motors was planning to manufacture an in-house electric car.
Now with latest advancements in Indian Automobile Market, General Motors India President and MD Karl Slym quoted that their company is going to exhibit a electric mini-car in June. He said that the car has been manufactured in the US and will be released in global market. Regarding the launch of Chevrolet EV, he said that it will depend on the feedback from customers after its release. Also if they manufacture and launch the car in India then only the Talegaon factory will be used.

As per reliable sources, the GM’s Bangalore engineering facility played a key role in Beat EV concept. Earlier, speculations were surfing on internet that engineers in Bangalore facility were helping American counterparts regarding the development of EV cars.
According to insider’s report, General Motors India is apparently going to unveil Chevrolet EV on June 5, as the day is also marked as World Environment Day. It is being said that Beat EV cars will be powered by a laptop-type Li-Ion battery pack.

Furthermore, the German company is going to launch Chevrolet Beat diesel in June, 2011. As per reports the car will incorporate a 1L engine which has been manufactured jointly by GM India and GM Europe. As per company reports, the engine will be manufactured in the Talegaon plant only, in the whole world.
