    After the success of one of its co-brand Chevrolet in the Indian auto industry, the multi national auto major General Motors is now looking forward at launching its premium and iconic Cadillac in India.

    GM India's President and Managing Director, Karl Slym mentioned that looking at the current trend in the Indian auto industry the company has come up with the plan of introducing the premium brand Cadillac. Keeping in mind the way Chevrolet has performed in the last few years, the company is keen at making a strong grip in the luxury car segment.
    With the rising demand of the luxury cars like Mercedes , Volkswagen , BMW and Audi in India Genaral Motors is all set to add its name in the luxury car segment. The sales of the luxury cars has increased to 70 percent over the last one year.

    The premium car Cadillac was first launched in 1902 and is present in 39 countries across the globe. However, countries like South America, India, SE Asia and Australia are not included in the list. The luxury car is likely to be priced between Rs 60-70 lakh in India.

    Come 2011 and the company will complete a century. Apart from Chevrolet and Cadillac the other brands of the company are Buick, GMC, Opel , Vauxhall, and Holden.

    Talking about the performance of Chevrolet in India Slym stated that going forward the company will focus on servicing rather than sales.

    The company has bagged fifth place in India, the sixth largest auto industry in the world. Chevrolet Spark is the highest revenue generator for General Motors in India and the company is hoping that Chevrolet Beat will also attain the same place in the Indian auto industry.

    The sensational LPG version of Chevrolet Beat with locally developed state-of-the-art Smartech engine from its Talegaon unit,was launched yesterday and is priced at Rs 4.53-lakh ex showroom. The diesel version is also on its way and is expected to hit the Indian roads by second quarter of 2011.
