General Motor to start production of Sail diesel by July end
Few days back, we reported that General Motors India has halted the production of the diesel variants of the Sail hatchback, sedan and the MPV Tavera BS III. The production of these vehicles was stopped due to potential emission performance of the models. However, the production of Tavera BS-IV and Sail series petrol models are unaffected. According to a report published on ET, the General Motors will resume production of the diesel variants of Sail hatchback and sedan by the end of this month.

The production of the multi-purpose vehicle Tavera BS III will not be resumed along with Sail series, however, its production will start from the end of next month. General Motors India Vice-President P Balendran said "We will start production of Sail HB (hatchback) NB (notchback) diesels by end of July and Tavera by end of August".
Now, it seems like the company has sorted out the potential emission performance issue with the Tavera BS III model, and the quality issue with the Sail hatchback and sedan diesel variants. This issue affected the sales of US auto maker in June, and sales declined 10.71 per cent at 6,675 units.
