    Ford India ready with home work to expand market share

    Ford India is all prepared with a number of task and targets to be achieved. It includes localisation, expansion of dealer and service centre, outsourcing aluminium cylinder blocks etc. Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India informed that the company had some products already built and wanted to deliver it in new categories. The company wanted to expand dealer and service centre networks to the tier II and III cities.

    Ford India is all prepared with a number of task and targets to be achieved. It includes localisation, expansion of dealer and service centre, outsourcing aluminium cylinder blocks etc.  Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India informed that the company had some products already built and wanted to deliver it in new categories. The company wanted to expand dealer and service centre networks to the tier II and III cities.  For expanding capacity it is going to invest $ 500 million. Apart from this, the company is now outsourcing the aluminium cylinder blocks from the Pune-based Jai Hind instead of importing them from Europe. The localisation of  Ford Ikon and Ford Fiesta models are 90 percent and 85 percent respectively. The concept has been implemented in 24 dealership outlets located in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Chennai.
