The Tesla Model Y is the first offering from the American EV manufacturer in the Indian market. It has been launched at a starting price of Rs 59.89 lakh and is available in two variants, offering a WLTP-claimed range of up to 622 km. Bookings are already open and deliveries will commence from the third quarter of 2025.

With that in mind, here’s a detailed look at Tesla’s debut model in India through images:

Front

Teslas are known for their minimalism in design and the India-spec Model Y’s face resonates the same. It looks sleek and minimal fascia with a blanked-off nose and a clean, smooth front bumper, giving it a futuristic look. The LED DRLs are connected by a light bar, while the LED headlamps also look sleek and are positioned below, having an air gap adjacent to them for better aerodynamics.

Side

The side of the Tesla Model Y has an equally minimal look as the front. A sloping roof merges into the tailgate, making it look like a crossover. The door handles sit flush against the body, and the EV runs on 19-inch blacked-out alloy wheels with aero covers.

Rear

The rear design of the Tesla Model Y is simple and clean, with a full-width LED light bar that connects the two tail lamps. The ‘TESLA’ lettering sits inside the light strip. The rear bumper has a black lower section that adds contrast.

Interior

Step inside the Tesla Model Y, and you’re greeted by an all-black cabin theme with black upholstery. A lighter black and white dual-tone finish is also available at an extra cost of Rs 95,000. 

The dashboard of the Tesla Model Y screams minimalism with an absolutely neat layout. It has no buttons or clutter. The large 15.4-inch touchscreen placed in the centre is used to control everything in the car, starting from music, drive modes, navigation, AC and a whole lot more. A single strip of ambient lighting stretches across the soft-touch dashboard. The steering wheel is a three-spoke unit with integrated buttons for headlamp, indicators, wiper and audio controls.

The central area between the front seats is wide and well-organised. It houses storage compartments, a pair of cup holders, and dual wireless phone chargers, all laid out neatly to maintain the clean look. 

At the back, the Model Y adds comfort with powered reclining rear seats. Passengers in the second row also get their own 8-inch touchscreen to manage entertainment and climate features, alongside dedicated rear AC vents for better airflow.

Features & Safety

The Model Y comes packed with several features, including a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment, an 8-inch display for rear-seat entertainment, heated and ventilated front seats with electric adjustment, a panoramic glass roof, multi-colour ambient lighting, as well as a powered tailgate and bonnet.

On the safety front, the Model Y is equipped with 6 airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and an electronic parking brake. For those looking for an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), Tesla also offers its Full Self-Driving system, available as an optional extra priced at Rs 6 lakh.

Powertrain

The Tesla Model Y is available in two powertrain variants: Rear-Wheel Drive and Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive. The exact battery capacities or technical specifications are not known.

Price & Rivals

The Tesla Model Y is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh for the rear-wheel drive and 67.89 lakh for the Long-range rear-wheel drive variant. It locks horns with Kia EV6, Volvo EX40 and EC40, BYD Sealion 7 and the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
