Changan Ford Mazda split imminent

After constant evaluation of new opportunities, finally one of the very few tri-party ventures i.e. Changan, Ford and Mazda is moving towards break-up.  The three-way break up details will be made public within the year.

According to some reliable sources, automobile company Mazda will move its assets to Nanjing and is going to start the production of low end cars for china. However, the decision of break-up and starting two individual joint ventures was already drafted between Changan, Ford and Mazda last year.

With Xu Liuping, chairman of Changan Automobile, confirming the split at the Auto Shanghai 2011, all the parties are waiting for the final directives from the National Development and Reform Commission. After this split, Ford and Mazda will get hold of a 50% part of the existing partnership.

If sources are to be believed, after the finalization of break-up, the Changan Mazda partnership will start investment in its opening model as an independent joint venture, the Mazda CX-5 Sports Utility Vehicle.

Furthermore, Changan Mazda is also thinking of establishing its Research & Development facilities in Nanjing but the relocation altogether depends on the area or size of the structure of existing plant.
