BS-IV compliant Tata Indica V2
Country's largest car maker Tata Motors has announced the launch of a new variant of one of its oldest and most popular hatchback, Indica V2 in the Indian market. The new variant has been named as Tata Indica V2 Turbomax. It is to be mentioned here that the new BS-IV emission norms have been implemented in the 13 major cities of the country since April 1st, 2010, which in turn prevented Tata Indica V2 to be sold in these cities as it was not compatible to the new emission norms.
What forced the company to launch a BS-IV compatible version of Indica V2 in the Indian market was its high demand among the middle class buyers.
The new model comes powered with a powerful 1.4L turbocharged engine that produces a peak power of 71PS @ 4500rpm along with a maximum torque of 135Nm @ 2500rpm. The model has been tasted at ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) according to which, the new variant carries a fuel economy of as much as 19 km/l. The addition of new variant will strengthen the position of Indica V2 model in the price segment of Rs 2.8-3.3 lakh.
The all new Tata Indica V2 Turbomax has been launched in two versions that comprise of DLE (the taxi segment) and DLS (for personal uses). Where the DLE variant comes featured with power steering option, the DLS variant has a conventional steering. With this, while the DLE variant is available only in Arctic Silver and Mint White colors, the DLS variant is available in 4 exciting colors including Furnace Red, Magnesium Gray, Arctic Silver and Mint White.
