A glance at the index in the last two years indicates that there is generally a seasonal fall in recruitment process in the festive season. He also stated that in the next few months, micro and macroeconomic changes will affect the plans of hiring in India. For instance, if the rupee carries on the process of strengthening the export directed areas like IT, medium and small industries will bear the impact.

However, sectors like IT-Software, banking and telecom observed marginal fall of around 6 per cent and 2 per cent during the month of October in 2010 in comparison to September, 2010. The aforesaid study also stated that this decline is quite seasonal in nature. This fall could also be attributed to the present festive wave, said the study. According to the analysis of functional area, the most demanding skill sets for the October month of 2010 included banking, accounts and production where the index increased by eleven per cent (banking), 8 per cent(production) and 5 (accounts) per cent in October'10 in comparison to September 2010.
