All-Electric VinFast VF MPV 7 Launch Date Out, Pre-Bookings Underway

VinFast has already stepped into the Indian market with the two eSUVs VF6 and VF7. Now the carmaker has confirmed launching its third product, the all-electric VF MPV 7, on April 15. Pre-bookings for the MPV are underway for Rs 21,000, and the official bookings and deliveries are likely to commence on the day of the price announcement itself. 

Interestingly, as we knew, the VF MPV 7 was earlier known as the Limo Green - the same moniker will exist, but in the commercial space. If all of this makes you curious, here’s all you should know about this new MPV:

Design

• The VinFast VF MPV 7 features a sleek and distinctive front-end design centred around a slim, full-width LED lightbar.

• A V-shaped lighting element is integrated within the DRL strip, forming a signature look.

• The front bumper is aerodynamically shaped, with a closed-off grille typical of electric vehicles and subtle sculpting along the lower section.

• In profile, the MPV displays a long wheelbase and tall stance. It gets pull-type door handles, a chrome lining along the window panels and 19-inch all-black alloy wheels.

• At the rear, a connected LED taillamp setup mirrors the front lighting theme.

• The tailgate is wide and has a blacked-out lower bumper section. 

Colour Options

The VF MPV 7 is offered in six monotone exterior body paints: 

• Infinity Blanc (White)

• Jet Black

• Zenith Grey

• Solar Ruby (Red)

• Moonlit Ocean

• Introspective Brown

Interior

• Inside, you step into an option of two different cabin themes: an all-black cabin (offered as standard across trims) and a dual-tone black and brown (which is offered with all exterior colours except for the red and brown).

• The cabin has upmarket leatherette upholstery with a very minimal and neat dashboard layout. There is a floating touchscreen infotainment system at the centrepiece. And that’s it. No other control buttons.

• The steering wheel gets tilt and telescopic adjustments. It's a three-spoke unit with plentiful audio, calling and touchscreen navigation control buttons.

• More interestingly, there is no dedicated instrument cluster for the driver. The driving details are displayed on the infotainment unit.

• At the floating centre console, you get multiple storage areas, including two cupholders and a front centre armrest. There’s an additional storage space just below the console, too, with some charging ports.

• It features a seven-seater layout (2+3+2), as seen in MPVs in usual.

Expected Features & Safety

• The India-spec VF MPV is confirmed to get multi-drive modes (Eco/Normal/Sport), and all windows auto up/down with an anti-pinch feature.

• Based on the international version, the VF MPV 7 is likely to offer a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with connected car technology. Other expected features include automatic climate control, and keyless entry with a press brake pedal start like usually seen in MG vehicles.

• Safety equipment that is confirmed in the India-spec model is a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic parking brake with auto hold, all-wheel disc brakes, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist and traction control. More safety tech can include multiple airbags, a rear parking camera, front and rear parking sensors.

Powertrain

Battery Specifications

• Contrary to previous speculations, the VF MPV 7 is not based on a shared platform with the VF7 SUV. It is underpinned by a dedicated platform of its own and its steering and suspension have also been tuned for Indian driving suitability.

Charging Options

• The VF MPV 7 supports 11kW AC charging and 80kW DC fast charging. The latter is capable of boosting the battery from 10 percent to 70 percent in just 30 minutes.

Expected Price & Rivals

The VinFast VF MPV 7 is expected to be priced from Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The MPV segment is turning out to be exciting with more electric names joining in. For the VF MPV 7’s alternative, you have the Kia Carens Clavis EV and the BYD eMax 7 in the market already. One can also consider the Mahindra XEV 9S as an eSUV alternative.
