2014 MINI Cooper teased again- Video
BMW that released the teaser image of the all-new 2014 MINI Cooper, has now revealed the teaser video of the vehicle ahead of its full reveal set for Monday. The video named as "The New Original", showing us the overall styling of the vehicle, which is now riding on the company's new UKL1 platform. The same platform will also underpin several BMW front-wheel and all-wheel drive models.
To avoid casualities during pedestrian collision (speeds between 19-55kmph), the 2014 MINI offers an active hood which automatically rises to create a flexible crumple zone. With the use of high strength steels in its construction, the company has managed to reduce its curb weight which further enhances its driving dyanamics. It also comes equipped with a lighter braking system and revamped electronic power steering system.
The company has already announced that the 2014 MINI will be made available with three- and four-cylinder engines. The vehicle will get the 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor that churns out a maximum power output of 136bhp and 220Nm of peak torque. The other powertrain, 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine is capable of developing 189bhp and 280Nm of peak torque. Diesel powered 2014 MINI features a newly developed 1.5-litre direct-injection common-rail motor that develops 114bhp and a peak torque of 269Nm.
The 2014 MINI will sport a new head-up display that provides information onto a small screen on the dashboard. On safety front, the vehicle now gets the collision and pedestrian warning system with city braking function and a windscreen-installed camera to avoid sudden collision. The company has also added a digital headlight assist system, which automatically activates or deactivates high-beams according to traffic and lighting conditions.
