    2014 Fiat Punto facelift to be known as 'Punto EVO'; new details emerge

    The 2014 Fiat Punto facelift launch seems to be imminent as the undisguised spy shots are pouring 'cats and dogs'. New details emerging on the upcoming Italian hatch, Punto reveal that the car is likely to be known as 'Punto EVO'. Or, Fiat might replace Punto Sport with Punto EVO and the rest will be christened as Punto only, things are still cloudy until the final launch. Fiat might also retain the current Punto as 'Punto Classic' as they did with the Linea Classic to tackle more customers.

    What to Expect in Punto Evo

    • The premium quotient of Punto has gone-up manifold, the new name sounds sportier to – Punto EVO!

    • On the exteriors, Punto get revised front-end with new inverted trapezoidal grille featuring lot of chrome.

    • It's not just the name - 'EVO', Punto facelift is getting sportier add-on inside-out, the vehicle features segment-first 195/55 R16 radial dressed up in a snazzy twin-five-spoke alloys.

    • Here comes the most interesting part, the rear gets continuous strip LED tail lamps - segment-first.

    • The rear bumper is also tweaked; the car now features dual rear fog lamps instead of one in the current model. The rear fog lamps are surrounded by chrome appliqué, which runs throughout the profile.

    • The dashboard is a straight lift from the upgraded Linea but it's all-black compared to the sedan.

    • The spy shots reveal that the car features softer touch plastics on the dash.

    • The central console features 'Piano-Black' finish with brushed metal finish, the audio system lifted from the 2014 Linea will feature Bluetooth connectivity, USB, Aux-in and CD playback.

    • The 2014 Punto EVO features Segment-first ambient lighting (amber color).

    • The vehicle also features segment-first rear air con vent.

    • The car will feature plush upholstery along with leather wrapped steering wheel, gear-shift knob and hand-brake lever.

    • Mechanically, the car is likely to remain same offering 1.2, 1.4 in petrol and 1.3 MJD diesel engine in both state of tune, the spy pictures are top-of-line 90hp. It would be surprising if Fiat introduces a turbo petrol engine.
