Mahindra Nuvosport Launching Tomorrow - 5 Things to Know

Mahindra will be launching the next generation of its Quanto utility vehicle replacement, the all new Nuvosport, tomorrow. This car has been substantially overhauled as compared to its predecessor by the Indian automaker, which is why we have lined up five things that one needs to know about Mahindra’s upcoming utility vehicle. So, let's find out:

Affordability

We expect the diesel variants of the Nuvosport to be priced in the ballpark of Rs. 6.5 lakhs. This will help Mahindra give stiff competition to the recently launched Maruti Brezza, priced at Rs. 6.99 lakhs. The car is also expected to be launched in petrol variants, which will further assist Mahindra in making its offering accessible to the masses. We expect the car to be launched with a base price of Rs. 5.5 lakhs (Ex-showroom) for the petrol variants.

Practicality

Nuvosport will compete with the likes of the Ford EcoSport and the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The advantage offered by the Nuvo-Sport will be its 7-seater layout. The third row will come with two jump seats making it a boon for larger families who may consider it.

Convenience

Nuvosport will be launched in both automatic and manual variants. The automatic variants will feature a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) unit, whereas the manual models will incorporate a standard 5-speed manual gearbox. As the Automatic unit incorporated is an AMT gearbox, the reduction in fuel economy as compared to the manual variants will be marginal. This will help Indian automaker's upcoming offering deliver impressive fuel economy and comfortable driving dynamics to the consumers.

Looks

Mahindra’s attempt at revamping the overall appeal of Quanto is rather commendable. The Indian automaker has even upgraded the car’s underpinnings, which are now sourced from its Scorpio SUV. Nuvosport features a much more aggressive and sporty styling. It will be given design cues like a redesigned bumper with intergrated skid plate. Other aesthetic updates include a new grill, new alloy wheels, bonnet scoop, LED DRLs, etc.

Power

Nuvosport will be offered with Mahindra’s 1.5-litre diesel motor, which is capable of producing 100 bhp of peak power output. This will rival the 98 bhp Ford Eco-sport and the 88 bhp Vitara Brezza. Like the Eco-sport, Mahindra too will be offering the Nuvosport in 1.2 petrol variants powered by a 82 bhp motor. That gives this car an edge over the Brezza that comes only in diesel.
