Hyundai trying to push Eon sale
Looks like, the Korean car manufacturer is slightly disappointed by the Eon sales in India. According to the reports, the sales of the small car Hyundai Eon have not reached the apex level as the company has envisaged. Hyundai Motors India Limited head of sales and marketing department, Arvind Saxena had confirmed the same, saying that Hyundai Eon has fallen short of their expectations with the sale of just 9000 units out of the 13, 503 units showcased at their sales outlets. Another sad touch to the story is the under 10% conversions of the 96,000 enquiries received. However, Hyundai India did not let go of the hope yet, still clinging to the sales target of 150,000 units sale by 2012 October. They seem to have a clear vison to achieve their target by entering into the tier III cities, improving on their dealer network to surge the Eon sales.

Hyundai India had brought the small car, Hyundai Eon into the Indian car market with the sole target to topple Maruti India’s flagship car Alto in the A segment cars on October 13th. However, nature had some other plans for the small car, which did not take off straightaway as hoped clocking just 9000 bookings in the first week. Now, this segment is reported to witness a decline of 13.7% due the continuous fuel price revisions and the interest rates on the loans by the RBI that have influenced the consumers to tighten their purse strings. The consumers have shown near to nothing interest in purchasing the new cars pushing the car sales down, leading to negative growth.

While this is the success story of Hyundai Eon so far, Maruti Alto had stood to be the best-selling hatchback in the year 2010 with 300, 956 unit sales during the year surpassing the sales of the global best-sellers, Volkswagen Gold and Fiat Punto. While Maruti Alto price is in the range of Rs 2.31- Rs 3.17 lakhs, the Hyundai Eon price is slightly higher in the range of Rs 2.69-Rs 3.71 lakhs
