Hyundai EON trial production started
Hyundai EON’s launch date can now be revealed any day in October. Hyundai India has already started the trial production of Hyundai EON at its plant in Chennai. Hyundai EON price is the major attraction these days as the small car is anticipated to be priced around Rs 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) making EON the most probable contender for Maruti Alto. Hyundai EON hatchback is most likely to be a major volume driver for Hyundai India.

Maruti sold over 3 lakh units of Maruti Alto in 2010 to become world's largest sold single car brand. Maruti Alto price begins at Rs 2.32 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi),this hatchback is very popular in India and normally clocks monthly average sales of 25,000-30,000 units. Attaining the same figure would definitely be a gigantic challenge for Hyundai EON which is expected to come with a 800 cc engine and options of both manual and automatic transmission. Hyundai EON will be the cheapest car from Hyundai’s hood yet and the company is backing on it a bit too much. So much so, that it is speculated that Hyundai Motor’s global chairman Mong-Koo Chung will fly down to Delhi especially for the launch slated for the middle of October.
EON is the Hyundai's most ambitious project till date catering to the mass segment and will be made exclusively in India only for all global markets. It is believed that Hyundai Santro would be phased out after Hyundai EON resides for some time in Indian market. Arvind Saxena, Director (marketing & sales) at Hyundai India said that new car launches are determined on the basis of the long-term outlook on a market. He told the media persons that Hyundai’s outlook on the Indian market in the medium and long-term is very positive and that the company wants to address the Indian customer with regular product launches.
