At present there are 13 Indian cities that would follow the BS-IV norms, complying this April. Many companies are seen replacing their models with more fuel-efficient car models, phasing out certain prevalent ones etc. Instead of upgrading the engines according to the new norms, some models are being phased out instead.

Chevrolet Tavera, Maruti 800 and Skoda Octavia would now be available only in the BS-III complaint cities. Fiat officials recently quoted that the Fiat Palio would be replaced with Fiat Grande Punto. Similarly, Ford Ikon would be available only in BS-III cities and phased out from the 13 cities upgraded to the new norms. Instead of upgrading the engine according to the new norms the company has decided to halt the sale of the Ford Ikon at least in the near future.
