Aston Martin updates its Vanquish & Rapide S for 2015
Aston Martin has revealed the 2015 Vanquish and Rapide S which come with an array of technical updates. Both the cars now feature an all-new eight-speed autobox, new engine management system and updated variants.
The most prominent change comes in the form of all-new Touchtronic III ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. While being compact than before as-well-as three percent lighter, the new gearbox promises to boost performance and reduce fuel consumption. Making its debut in a transaxle layout, has helped the Vanquish to sprint 0-100 km/hr. in just 3.6 seconds, 0.5 less than before. The Rapide S is also half a second quicker now and does the same in 4.2 seconds.
Along with the new autobox, there are a series of changes made to its acclaimed V12 engine, these include the latest engine management controller and a reduction in exhaust back pressure. Though its barely noticeable, but Vanquish adds three more horses for a total of 568, while the Rapide gains two more, for a 552 bhp.
Furthermore, efficiency has also improved, along with the inherent drop in CO2 emissions.Aston has brought down the CO2 emissions by an average of ten percent. Now, the Vanquish exhausts 298 g/km, whereas the Rapide S is rated at 300 g/km. In terms of fuel efficiency, it has been improved by 11 percent on average.
Visual improvements are “subtle but important,” as the Aston blurb says. The exterior features “new ten-spoke forged alloy wheel designs, available in a variety of finishes,” along with new paint color options. Inside, new combinations of leather colors are also available.
Else, the Vanquish has been fitted with a stiffer front and rear suspension setup, while the Rapide S now comes equipped with larger front brakes. New ten-spoke forged alloy wheels, new body-color options and interior cabin leather trim and headlining colors are also included in the list of upgrades.
