Mahindra has showcased the Vision SXT concept in India, which initially looks like the pickup version of the Vision T prototype. That said, this pickup concept gets a lot of design elements inspired from rally-spec cars and an aggressive look that will grab a lot of attention. If you are interested in it, here’s a detailed explanation about the exterior and interior design in 10 images.

Front

The Mahindra Vision SXT gets a boxy design that is highlighted at the front with square housing for the LED projector headlights and pixel-shaped LED DRLs that also double-up as the turn indicators. The concept comes with an all-black grille that is divided into three sections by matte black horizontal strips. Look closely and you will notice some rectangle shaped-elements in the grille that add a visual depth to the SUV’s design.

It also gets an off-road specific bumper with a rectangular mesh pattern inside it. The bumper is actually protruding from the body, similar to what we have seen in the Thar and Thar Roxx that will be useful in mounting a winch, if required. The lower portion of the bumper also features a silver skid plate to protect the underbody of the SUV.

Side

In profile, the Vision SXT concept gets two doors on either sides, with the front ones getting black door handles, while the rear ones are neatly integrated on the C-pillar, similar to the Thar Roxx. What’s striking is that it is extended beyond the C-pillar to accommodate a flat bed which gets anti-roll bars for added safety.

It gets black roof rails, camera-based outside rear view mirrors and a blacked-out A pillar. Notably, a black strip runs down from the ORVMs to the lower section of the body and there’s a translucent decal on the front doors with ‘Vision SXT’ branding.

The Vision SXT gets thick angular wheel arches that extend to the lower section of the doors. It also gets dual-tone rally-style off-road specific tyres, all of which gives it a proper beefy look.

Rear

At the rear, the flatbed can be seen in its full glory and Mahindra has placed two off-road spec tyres on it to further highlight the Vision SXT’s offroad stature. The flatbed storage space is secured by a matte black trim with ‘Vision SXT’ written on it.

Other than this, it gets pixel-shaped sleek LED tail lights on either side of the above mentional black metal strip. It gets its high-mounted stop lamp integrated into the roof-mounted spoiler.

The rear bumper has heavy contours and features a silver skid plate, and all of this blends cohesively to give the SUV concept an aggressive aura.

Interior

Inside, it gets a layered dashboard design with a mix of colours including silver, grey and brown. Some design elements including the steering wheel spokes, AC vent surrounds and inside door handles get a yellow finish for a funky look.

That said, the dashboard houses a 3-spoke steering wheel, a digital driver’s display, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and another display for the AC controls.

The centre console has a clean design with what looks like a sequential gear shifter that seems to be borrowed from a rally-spec car. The console also features some storage area and a space under the AC control screen that might double up as a wireless phone charging pad.

It gets 5 seats inside, all of which are clad in a leatherette upholstery and feature adjustable headrests. Another rally-inspired element that Mahindra has used inside the cabin are 4-point seatbelts that are finished in a yellow hue and provide useful contrast to the otherwise neutral-themed seats.

Other Details

The Mahindra Vision SXT concept is built on the NU IQ platform that will also give the foundation to the other three concepts revealed alongside it. The production-spec version of the Vision SXT, Mahindra says, will make its India debut in 2028.

Upon launch, it will measure more than 4 metres in length and hence will serve as an alternative to subcompact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Kia Seltos.
