Volkswagen unveils the 2016 Jetta in America
Volkswagen of America has taken wraps off the 2016 Jetta GLI, with the powerful EA888 4-cylinder engine from the Golf GTI. The Jetta has been the most selling model for Volkswagen in the American market, and by the looks of these updates maybe this is what everybody was looking in the new Jetta update in India, at least the design if not that engine. The GLI gets the 2.0 litre turbocharged direct-injection engine producing 210bhp of maximum power and specially tuned sports suspension for handling to go with the package.
The front of the Jetta GLI looks more aggressive with that honeycomb grille and fog lamps. The rear too gets tasty update with new design and diffuser with a gorgeous pair of chrome-tipped exhausts. The new 18-inch Mallory design aluminium-alloy wheels are shod with all-weather tyres or you may opt for the summer performance tyres.
Step inside and you notice the new MIB 2 infotainment system that comes with a full suite of USB and Car-Net connectivity options. Other equipment on the SE model includes LED tail-lights, Keyless entry with push-button start, Climatronic automatic dual-zone climate control, sunroof, 6-way power driver seat, rear-view camera, front and rear Park Distance Control, Fender Premium Audio System, rain sensing wipers and automatic headlamps.
Regular features kept aside, the Jetta GLI also has a few upscale features like Blind Spot Detection with rear traffic alert, a navigation system, Bi-Xenon headlights with the Adaptive Front-lighting System, and Homelink. The AFS system swivels the main headlight beams by up to 15 percent as the steering wheel is turned to help illuminate bends in the road more effectively at speeds above 10kmph.
